Every published table of “normal” engine readings was written for somebody else's engine.
Oil pressure alarm points, coolant limits, exhaust gas temperatures and wear limits differ between manufacturers, between models from the same manufacturer, and between two installations of the same engine. A figure that is right for a Yanmar 4JH is wrong for a Volvo D2, and both are wrong for whatever is in your engine bay unless somebody checked.
So this log is built the other way round. You transcribe your own engine's figures from your own manual, once, onto a reference page. You record one full set of readings while the engine is in a state you are willing to call good. Every entry after that measures itself against both.

A reading is a moment. A trend is a warning.
A coolant temperature that sits inside a generic band tells you very little. The same temperature, eight per cent above where your own engine ran at the same revs two hundred hours ago, tells you something is happening.
That is why the hours column is not optional and why the RPM must be the same every time. Model M3 turns two entries and the hours between them into a rate of drift — which is the difference between a logbook and a prediction.
Not one published threshold. Deliberately.
You will not find a normal range, a wear limit or a service interval of our own anywhere in this document. An owner who reads “low oil pressure below 2.0 bar” in a general guide, on an engine whose maker alarms at 2.8, keeps running an engine that should be stopped. An owner who reads “over 95 °C is critical”, on an engine that runs normally at 92, shuts down his propulsion mid-passage. Both errors come from a number written for a different engine. This log removes the number and keeps the arithmetic.
What it is worth to a buyer, a surveyor and an insurer
An engine with a completed log of this kind is a different proposition from an engine with a shoebox of receipts. It shows the intervals were kept against the manufacturer's own figures, it shows what drifted and when, and it shows which faults appeared and how they were resolved.

Where a reading matters, the decision belongs to a qualified engineer working from the manufacturer's documentation for your serial number. Nothing here instructs you to run, load, dismantle or adjust an engine.
