A rig at target tension can still be leaning. A sail with hours left can still be dead. A boat can be fast and never know it.

Rig and sail decisions are made on feel more than anything else aboard, because the figures that would settle them were never written down. The Rig & Sails Command Kit is the whole cluster bought at once: what the rig is set to, what the wardrobe has actually done, and what the boat has actually achieved.

What is in the kit

Why the three together beat the three apart

A target speed is worthless if the log reads three per cent low, so the tune log calibrates before it compares. A settings matrix is worthless without the tension record that says what the rig was actually set to. And a sail that has quietly moved its draft aft will flatten every number in the polar. The three registers share one wind-band definition, so a change in one is readable in the others.

The rule every document in the kit obeys

Not one published tension, service life or target speed anywhere in 74 pages. A tension written for a masthead sloop puts a swept fractional rig out of column; a cruising dacron main and a racing membrane have nothing in common; and a published polar is a promise about a bare hull. You transcribe your spar maker's and your loft's own figures, and the models compare you to your own best.

What it is not

These documents record and organise. They are not a tuning guide, not sailmaking advice, and they reach no conclusion about the condition of any rig. The rigging inspection pages keep what you can see and photograph strictly separate from what a qualified rigger examined.

Bought separately, $291. As a kit, $177 — you keep $114.
